TABE

Test for Adult Assessment

Students applying for the EMT-Basic program must complete the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE), Level 13 Level A Complete Battery, no more than two (2) years prior to the start date of the course they plan to enroll in.

Register for the test below and pay the exam fee. Limited test dates are available, so early registration is strongly recommended.

Students who have an IEP plan should email CSRIPS@CoralSprings.gov prior to registering for the TABE.

Requirements

MINIMUM TABE SCORES FOR ACCEPTANCE

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following minimum scores:

• Reading: 563

• Math: 577

• Language Arts: 573

Achieving the minimum score does not guarantee admissions. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum score must wait 3 months before retaking the test. The CSRIPS will accept the highest scores from multiple attempts, provided they are within 2 years of the course start date.

Results will be uploaded into the candidate’s MyCSRIPS account under “Folders/Documents” within 5-7 business days.

Applicants may be exempt from taking the TABE if they have achieved qualifying scores on approved standardized tests. CSRIPS will accept scores listed on an official high school transcript in addition to official score reports. Scores must be received prior to the start of registration. FAQ

Q: I’m a returning student who didn’t have to take the TABE previously. Do I have to take it now?

A: Yes. All candidates applying for the EMT-Basic class after Winter 2026 must complete the TABE, regardless of whether they are re-enrolling or new.

Q: Do I need to take the TABE for Firefighter I & II or the Paramedic program?

A: No. The TABE is not required for Firefighter I & II or EMT-Paramedic program applicants.

Q: I took the TABE at another school. Will those scores count?

A: Yes, if the scores were completed within two years of the class start date and the previous school is willing to send them directly to CSRIPS at transcripts@coralsprings.gov. CSRIPS will not contact your previous testing site on your behalf. Candidates are responsible for requesting that their scores be sent. Scores must meet the minimum requirements and be received before the start of registration.

Q: Is the TABE registration fee refundable? What if I have an emergency and can’t attend?

A: The registration fee is nonrefundable. However, if you are unable to attend due to an emergency, you should email csrips@coralsprings.gov as soon as possible. Depending on the circumstances and supporting documentation, you may be eligible to transfer your seat to another available test date. Seat transfers are not guaranteed and are handled on a case-by-case basis.
